Tools: Astrolabe, this is the oldest navigation tool, and it was used like a compass, to work the boats latitud they had to hold it up at noon.
Cross staff: it was used by the pilot like the astrolabe. The pilot will use it at noon like the astrolabe, and he points it to the horizont to measure the latitude.
Compass: the compass shows North, South, East, West, North West, North East, South East, South West and other tiny things if you want to be more exact.
Maps: He used maps to figure out where he was going to. Also, the maps have all the locations and longitude and latitude.
